Description Faunkil-and-the-Woods Ogham Stone, Co. Cork (V657 529) This truly elegant stone, the tallest ogham stone in Ireland, stands 4.7m in height in an area which commands panoramic views over Ballycrovane Harbour and Coolagh Bay to the west. The stone narrows towards the top and is aligned NW-SE. The ogham inscription on the NW edge is now badly weathered but was recorded in 1945 as MAQI-DECCEDDAS AVI TURANIAS.

Would it originally have been coated in some sort of metal or paint or other decoration?
