Description The 'Tombs of the Nobles' is situated on the west Bank' (where else?) at Aswan.

They are accessible by private boat for a few pounds. The site was virtually deserted when we went and was one of the few places where you would be left to walk round on your own if you wanted.

These are ancient tombs of the wealthy, mainly military overseers and the odd priest. They date from V1 to X11 Dynasties. Only a few are open to the public but they are superb (bring a torch!). As you walk around the site there are bits of mummy cloth broken pots and bones literally sticking up out of the ground.
