Mur Paien Blocks were apparantly held together by wooden blocks inserted into notches hewn into the rock.
Similar notches were discovered in ruins from other cultures, such as Egypt and Crete, though some used bronze or iron connectors.
Our Celtic ancestors certainly went to a lot of trouble only to leave a lot of unanswered questions.
There are also supposed to be 2 cromlechs within the 10 Km long figure eight shaped area surrounded by the wall. Increasing rain prevented these from being found. An Aircraft crashed in 1992 within the walls, and it took until next day to find the survivors. |
