There was a skeleton found here,in a clumsy excavation in 1779. It was thought to be a Saxon burial because of a disintegrated helmet. |
| Posted Comments: Thorgrim (2005-03-13) | See also Therfield Heath in Hertfordshire. That long barrow contained a pagan Saxon secondary burial, so perhaps that is also the case at Shurdington. Pagan Saxons often used earlier barrows for burials and as meeting places (Moot Hills or Mutlows) |
