The stone has a strange groove in the top. This view looks over to the Tor know as Mother Cap |

Lovely crispy snow too. | enkidu41 (2005-03-07) | I suspect the indentation at the top is weathering but is the vertical groove down the side natural or caused by rain run-off from the top? I've just finished reading Terence Meaden's book The Secrets of the Avebury Stones and I imagine he would regard this the stone as a female vulva stone. | Thorgrim (2005-03-07) | If that is true, then the Devil's Arrows are multi-vulva'd! | Nicola Didsbury (2005-03-07) | Maybe thats what David Raven meant when he said the Devils Arrows were "girlie stones"!
The indentation is perfect for making liquid offerings, perhaps to the "gods/giants" of the nearby Tors. |
