Description Castle Hill, fortunate to survive the construction of the M6 which runs just the other side of the mound.

Very fortunate indeed. Looking at an aerial shot from last summers mappings the enclosure seems to survive as cropmarks. Now what is that suspicious dark circle in the lower centre of the apparent earthwork marks? Any bets on a pond barrow or similar.

I live a few minutes up the road in Ashton. This site is probably worth a further look.
