Description I visited Stoney Littleton Long-barrow today (2 Feb 05) to find Thorgrim's description of it to be spot on. It is a delightful site.

Part reason for choosing this site today was the purchase of a 'Tom Tom Go' GPS system, not as user friendly as I had been led to believe, but still good once you can persuade it where you really want to go. I think without MS Autoroute on my computer it would be pretty unwieldy in my neck of the woods. We aren't on the global map so far as house numbers go. To set 'home' I had to set it to a nearby road junction. It does not allow the selection of a town centre, so if you don't know where you want to go and are just missioning, it is a tricky little beast. However, once programmed, not having to map read and having a little gizmo that tells me turn right, turn left etc. is fantastic. We'll get used to each other I am sure.

Thanks for this creators. It gives a better idea of the site's situation in the landscape. I was amused by the fact that you'd used the latest hi-tect route finder to get to this oldest monument, but at least it was appropriately named 'Tom-Tom Go'. Ancient man would have only associated that with a drum, and maybe used a few there in their rituals!

Thanks creators - good to see the barrow in the landscape. On a hill with deep valleys all around and then a circle of downs. What a setting - shame about the land-fill site and pylons. Still, no wind farm - yet! GRRR!
