East-West orientation.
Built by Ptolemy VI and added to by Augustus. The locals call it the "Disco" on account of the musical and dancing scenes in the reliefs. There are also scenes of the dwarf god Bes, sacred to childbirth, whose cult is often associated with Hathor, a mother goddess as well as a love goddess. |
| Posted Comments: Andrea (2005-02-22) | I visited this temple in January whist having a criuse down the nile. It is beautiful, especialy at night. It is well worth visiting the light and sound show on a night time. The stars are so much more brighter and it is a very moving experience. |
