Description Kiosk of Trajan
N24.02551 E32.88446
Elevation 122 Meters.
East-West orientation.
Egypt was the bread basket of Rome and Trajan was very eager to maintain good relations with the Egyptians when he built this charming enclosure in 105 CE. It was probably used as a resting place for visiting dignitaries. The reliefs show Trajan offering paying his respects to Isis, Osiris and Horus.
This structure was also saved from its watery resting place in the late 70s, well after all the other Nubian temples.
