The 'oracle hole' at the bootom is hewn out in the same shape as that in the oracle room at Hagar Qim. Oracle rooms are found at all the great temples and generally connect with an external chamber through the hole. The holes are always about 60cms above the ground except, apparently, this one. However, if the monolith is laid on its long edge the hole would then be at the 'right' height. It would thus seem that the slab has been moved from its unknown original position. |
