|Description ||Aswan Elephantine Island Nilometer.|
The nilometer permitted the Egyptians to monitor water levels, which had a great impact on crops and the lives of the people and the economy in general. This Nilometer was built/renovated during the 26th Dynasty. It had water level markings from Egyptians, Romans and Arabs. As the God Khnum (Ram Headed) was thought to be responsible for the Nile's flloding, it is not surprising that his temple was just up the flight of stairs.
