Elephantine Island sports the remains of an ancient Hebrew temple a little below the official Egyptian ones. It was largely made out of mud bricks.
It was destroyed in the 7 century BC by the invading Persians.
A discovery channel documentary suggested the Arc of the Covenant was kept there for some time before being taken to Ethiopia. |
