As a guide to the direction, later in the month, at Spring Equinox, 21st March, the sun would set due west.

(2010-11-18) | Oh Yeah you can see the alignment forming, these people knew the sun was at the center of the solar system and that the earth was round. Mythically this stone is supposed to help pregnant women if they crawl through the hole..:) | TheCaptain
(2010-11-18) | Another "left field" comment from you there stonesavant. I think it is well known that these stones are not in their original positions, so no alignments of any kind can be attributed to them. And I dont know any legends about helping pregnant women - curing rickets, yes.
