The main chamber of the fogou is many metres long, tall, and banana-shaped. It should be accessed through a very low doorway that is on your left as you enter the fogou down the steps: this entrance could easily be missed in the darkness. At the far (west) end of this chamber is a stumbling stone before a low doorway on the left that leads to another small chamber. A photograph cannot do this chamber justice: with the torch off it was darkest place I have ever experienced. |
