A sheep stands atop the barrow, and is sufficiently brave enough to stay still while I take its picture. The ground immediately to the east of the barrow is extremely muddy and covered in sheep droppings: the upright stones provide shelter from the prevailing winds for the livestock. |

Can I say 'Happy New Year' to everyone on the Portal via your pic Jim? | thecaptain (2004-12-31) | Baaaaaaa aaaaa aaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaah | AngieLake (2004-12-31) | Fl'eece a jolly good fellow, fl'eece a jolly good fellow.......
Ewe'll never walk alone........
Roll in your barrow, Let's have a barrow of dung ........ | JimChampion (2004-12-31) | Glad you like it. Theres an obvious connection between sheep and clouds (white and fluffy) and this ewe has its silver lining. | Andy B (2004-12-31) | I thought the drinking bit came later on today - new member Jim now thinks we're all mad :-) | AngieLake (2004-12-31) | Sorry Jim - not a drop had passed my lips - honestly! Crazy sense of humour, yes. This hobby can attract rather 'serious' and 'boring' labels if you are committed to it, so maybe visitors will see we DO have a sense of humour? DavidRaven, thecaptain, and Thorgrim are among those who cheer up my day when reading their witty comments. Hope you don't feel mine are too childish? It was very late, so brain melt-down may have happened! Meanwhile, 'Welcome' Jim, your pics are great, and keep them coming! | rich32 (2004-12-31) | Whenever I try & take a picture into the sun, it usually turns out awful....now I know the secret. Does anybody know where I can buy sheep :-)
Welcome aboard Jim, lovely photos.
| JimChampion (2005-01-01) | Yes, try and get a sheep between the camera and the sun. All comments gratefully received. | nicoladidsbury (2005-01-07) | He he, Angie, just caught up with these posts! I am quietly giggling away, boyfriend thinks I'm mad.... Very apt comments considering it was New Year's Eve. | mega-lith (2009-04-26) | "we will fight them on the beaches" this sheep looks like a charismatic leader of the sheep world standing atop a megalith and talking to his fellow sheep below plotting their plans to invade other megaliths. " next is the nine stones" |
