Editor of Northern Earth, John Billingsley (left) and archeologist/artist Paul Bowers pose for a sense of scale!
Mr Bowers' favourite theory as to the use of the enclosure was as a type of 'corral' for animals.
The circular feature they are posing in could be a 'caretakers' abode (for a person who tended the animals?). There are no entrances from the 'house' to the inside of the enclosure, just one to the outside.
The area of rubble in front is thought to have been some sort of store. There is the probable remains of a connecting doorway between the 'hut' and the store. |
