Description
This is a delight not to be missed. If you visit the tombs at Carneddau Hengwm, this is just a few minutes walk away. Take it in, or you'll be kicking yourself. A small ring cairn, with outward leaning stones, and an internal ring recognisable in most of the monument. It appears also to be sited so as to give an impression of being on a ridge. Comparisons with Bryn Cader Faner, which is to the north on another good long, walk, are easy to make.
The little character here is Makka Pakka from "In the Night Garden". He lives in a cave - which inside resembles West Kennet Long Barrow, and on the outside looks like Skara Brae!
Owww! I *love* Makka Pakka! I've been looking for a couple of these small ones for the twins in Derby (when I visit they watch 'In The Night Garden' with them every day!), but they sold out very quickly here!
and of course, the Teletubbies' barrow was within a rather hengiform sort of monument! Yes, Makka Pakka is superb, closely followed by Iggle Piggle. But I completely identify with Makka's love of stones!
Thanks for that Tim.... it's gloriously silly, isn't it!
These toys are to be 'No.1' for small children this Christmas, according to the staff of the local toy shop. (Ninky-Nonk is the train, btw!)
