Desolate indeed! | Thorgrim (2005-03-20) | Yes and even the Rollright Circle had a similar iron fence closely surrounding it at one time. Easy enough for a yellow paint moron to hop over the fence - so what exactly is the point? But wasn't it supposed to be good luck to hack a piece of the King Stone off in passing, carry it for luck on your journey.
Fences are not the best of things though. If you look at the Panorama Stone, behind a similar fence in a park in Ilkley, they're often splattered with green paint used to paint the fence.
