(2013-01-18) | Even Stan Beckensall, the most famous rock art specialist in Britain, is not sure. It could be erosion, but there are no similar erosion marks on Northumberland coast as far as I know. On the other hand, these 38 recorded rocks in Alnmouth have just cup-marks, no rings, penannulars or other motifs which would prove it to be rock art. I will write more about this site in my second article about the rock art in Northumberland. | cerrig
