This shows one of the three in the rays of the setting sun in May 2005. The fence right of picture borders the westerly of two N/S lanes leading to the site from the main road south of the fort. |
| Posted Comments: Thorgrim (2005-07-27) | This is the way to get good pictures of a very difficult subject! Round barrows, like other earthworks, are very difficult to photograph effectively. The answer lies in waiting for low sunlight to give texture and modelling. Put your camera away at noon - you'll only be disappointed. | JimChampion (2005-07-27) | I agree - excellent picture of a tricky subject. Most people just drive straight past these barrows on their way to the hillfort carpark! |
