I believe I can count the remains of at least 12 barrows in this picture. How many can you count? |

(2005-05-24) | Yes - my dad commented on the number of cows! He grew up a farmer's son, and thought it a very large heard indeed (I previewed the pictures on their telly). The full size image is about 2700 pixels along the widest part - makes cow spotting much easier. | JimChampion
(2005-06-05) | Visited Poor Lot again a few days ago: this photo is a good reference point. The official way in to the English Heritage bit is by the shed and jeep in the bottom right of the photo. We parked on the lane to the left of the field with hundreds of cows in (they were still there) and walked down to the main road - a dangerous place to cross though. Poor Lot was not our intended destination, but the fog and rain made going to Eggardon Hill almost impossible. The view from this point would have been a lot less interesting. | helens
(2008-07-17) | Where do Poor Lot Barrows begin and end? From the Explorer Map OL15 (2007 Revision) the English Heritage site seem to be confined to the south side of the A35. Not very good on identification of disc etc types but looks like the barrows on the north side are far more varied in type than those on the south side. |
