The drawing shows three standing stones on a small mound. Quite clearly the cup marks and spirals can be seen on the stones.
When the site was excavated in the 1840s three more stones were found along with bones and other fragments. In 1845 the stones were set up at the entrance to Calderstones Park.
Today the six stones stand protected in the palm house at
the park. They range in height between 3-8 feet tall and are dated to the late Neolithic to early Bronze-Age. |
