|Description ||The entire Monte Baranta complex is attributed to the pre-Nuragic culture called Monte Claro, dating to the Chalcolithic period of 2500 - 2200. It was only found by chance in the 1950's.
Archaeologist Alberto Morivetti is surprised at the relatively few artifacts on the site, and concludes that it was not inhabited for long, and may have been suddenly abandoned. |
It is not easy to make out the circle as there are so many stones in this 'sacred area' outside the defensive wall - and work is still in progress.
