This is the head of the zoomorphic rock carving with two friends to indicate scale. Like other zoomorphic rock carved or natural feature enhanced animals in the region, this carving potentially could be dated as limestone slabs at the rear of the head will cover ancient organic vegetation.
With several clear examples of zoomorphism exhibited in Azerbaijan (and in Kazakhstan) it indicates an ancient tradition, perhaps a primitive religious or animistic belief system. Assuming that zoomorphism was a widespread Stone Age tradition this then suggests that the Sphinx in Egypt, which is not so distant could have been carved as part of the same tradition.
