The red granite quarries of Aswan were used for many statues and colossi and the 'footprints' of these can be seen all over this quarry. Stone tools left behind has given a valuable insight in to their methods. Sadly, it was abandoned when a crack appeared. Oops, hope they didn't waste too much time! |
