Description Os grid reference SD64933534. Four Roman columns prop up the front porch of the White Bull Inn, Church Street, Ribchester, Lancashire.

They are thought to have come from a Roman temple at the fort of Bremetennacum (Ribchester). One of the columns has had to be restored. Enjoy your pint!!

Went for lunch here on 12th May. V. nice pub. Ribchester v. pleasant place to visit, esp by the riverside, looking back towards Pendle Hill. Nice little museum there, too, and some Roman remains. (The town - or village - is built on top of much of the original Roman site.)

Thank you Angie and Richard. Glad you enjoyed your visits to Ribchester and your pints of beer. It is indeed a nice village.

Great find sunny100! Is that a mounting block to the right? Looks like you have to step down into the pub? Love it.

Yes guile it is a mounting block for gentlemen to climb onto their horses after partaking of several pints of locally brewed ale.
