The large bushes let it look smaller, but in fact it is a large dolmen built of 2 pairs of orthostats on the long sides and one orthostat at the NE narrow side. The entrance most probably was located in the SE. The capstone measures [Reference: Sprockhoff et al., "Atlas der Megalithgräber Deutschlands, Teil 1 Schleswig-Holstein, Habelt, Bonn 1966, p. 22] 3,2m by 1,7m and is 1,2m thick. It is covered with cup-marks.

(2010-12-21) | Thank you very much Cezary. It was a nice walk along field edges in knee-deep snowbanks and a sublime winter scenery around. And good to know someone likes winter images as I’am afraid I still have several from the last years and again we are rather snowbound in this part of Europe. So possibly more to come ;)) |
