Background left shows the remains of the 50m chambered and kerbed long-barrow Horneburg III which is nearly aligned. Most kerb-stones of the sites were robbed, but the earthwork still is signifcant, though eroded of course. As it possibly was overlooked, the chamber of Horneburg IV survived in almost perfect condition. Only two capstones are lost. August 2012 |
