Description Pole aerial view from the NE showing the remains of the over-length passage-grave, typical in the Drenthe/Emsland -area. According to Sprockhoff's research the original chamber length was approximately 20m. When he examined the site in 1926 only 5 orthostats (3 in situ) of the south-eastern, one (in situ) of the north-western long-side and one large , but fallen capstone were preserved inside some last remains of the barrow. Another stone in the south-west was interpreted as possible kerbstone of the enclosure.
This site (Börger III) suffers from disrespectful placing of benches exactly in-/beside the remains of the tomb. Furthermore a playground was established beside it. Unfortunately there also is no info-panel for regular visitors. Another sad fact is, that 3 stones obviously were robbed after 1926, although it already was a cultural heritage site than.
Nevertheless the site still has left some of its prehistoric aura.
