|Description ||Close-up of capstone C2 (with camera on pole). Due to very favourable lighting conditions i noticed (on the photos) there might also be a cup-mark surrounded by a ring formed of smaller cup-marks (between the > < marks). Of course this is hard to tell without further investigation as the whole surface is weathered and patinated. Available literature only mentions "cup-marks", even the total number is not given. I doubt the rock art at this site ever was carefully inspected. In Germany rock-art is comparatively rare and often limited to cup-marks and so this field-of-research somewhat has a shadow-existence. There are only very few undersized publications regarding rock-art in Germany and no real monographs. Would be interesting to get a proper documentation of the panels (total number/arrangement of cup-marks/other symbols) March 2010|
