Description Cockit Hill (promontory fort/enclosure) viewed from the south. In the foreground the bank is visible by the fact that the heather is flowering on it. beyond the bank the interpretation of the fort is that it only extends around the nearest rock outcrops.

To the right of the picture a path comes up the hillside to the end of the rampart/bank - there appears to be some small steps cut into the rock here so that it is easier to climb up onto the top of the spur, it also looks like there has been some limited quarrying of the outcrop in this area - particularly to the south of the rampart/bank.

Very instructive and aesthetically pleasing aswell (as usual). And thank you very much for the accompanying detailed description. It is very helpful to people who are not familiar with the site (like me).
