The Whetstones are central in the picture, in the greener area; Miss Chitty has described the Whetstones as a circle once as important as the nearby Mitchell's Fold.
The Whetstones can be viewed from the field just to the north, accessed over a stile from the road (top), which is the boundary with Shropshire.
Numerous stones are in the adjoining field boundary; one must surmise that many of these stones were once a part of The Whetstones. |
