The granite Menhir of Kerloas near Aber Illdur, Brittany, stands at 40 feet high (9.50 metres), perhaps the tallest standing stone in W.Europe. The top section was broken off by a lightning strike. The menhir is estimated to weigh 150 tonnes and dates from somewhere between 6,000-2,000 BC.
