Description Filitosa, Statue Menhir

The photo shows the back of the statue menhirs, detailing the armour. The fact that it is rather phallic has lead archeologists to believe the statues may have fertility associations.

This statue menhir shows shoulder blades, others on Filitosa show spines and/or ribs whilst most show a face. They may be the final creative transition of rough hewn menhirs to proper sculpted statues. And it surely cannot be an accident that the "page boy haircut" exhibited by most of them is blatantly phallic.
