Description Clay House Model found at Archanes, 20 KM south of Heraklion. This now resides in the Heraklion museum, and provides a very useful visualisation of what an actual Minoan house looked like. Modern Archanes is a pleasant provicial town with excellent vineyards.

Something seems odd here. They sure went to a great deal of effort to hold up a semi-thatched roof which could have been spliced up in a matter of days. The columns are capable of holding 20 times the weight assuming they are solid.
