Stones 54 to 51 (L to R). The line of sight via the U-cut (natural or otherwise) appears to be deliberate.

(Is the 'U-Cut' the feature in the top/inside of 54? Where's the line-of-sight to?) | AngieLake (2011-12-18) | I wondered that, Sem. Is it the shape that cast the 'dagger [or axe] of sunlight' on Stone 57 at dawn on 5 Dec 06, which we discussed years ago? http://www.megalithic.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=a312&file=index&do=showpic&pid=54373

| AngieLake (2011-12-18) | Yes, I know that Sem, but didn't express myself very well (expecting you to read my mind, ha!ha!).. What I meant was.. 'Is that what you were referring to when you said the line of sight from this U-cut appears to be deliberate?' [ie: in casting light at sunrise onto the rectangle on Stone 57.] Feanor seems confused, too. :-) | sem (2011-12-20) | Ang, it seems to me that there was more than one intention here. Your dagger is one. The stones in the foreground are fallen 8&9 from the outer circle. From this position you have the U lining directly above a lintel and a line to a barrow outside. It might be coincidence but I doubt it. | tiompan (2011-12-21) | Would the view to barrow have been clear if stones 25 and 59a were erect ? | sem (2011-12-22) | I would say yes George. 59 would probably have emphasised the cut away in blue 63. |
