Description Stone 16's 'Pregnant Belly', in profile, looking towards NW, so this is SE side, of course. Notice the 'flowing robe' effect here. Part of my evidence in believing this stone is a feminine fertility focal point of the sarsen circle.
It lies adjacent to the axis, and is closest to sunset on Winter Solstice.
Taken at dawn on 6.12.06, it shows the setting moon, which was the most northerly rising one the evening before. Many photographers present on 5th, hoping to get a shot of it rise!
[First time I saw Dennis Price and Pete Glastonbury, too!]

If you check out this link, the photo on the left was taken at the same time: http://www.megalithic.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=a312&file=index&do=showpic&pid=36079 It's amazing how clearly the 'spine' shows at that angle, and the 'pregnant belly' is the bulk of the stone to the right of it. That is why I still think the 'spine' was carved out for a reason, rather than being a natural feature. Together with the V mark on the inner face, I'm sure it's 'special'.
Apologies for banging on about this! ;-)
Still in doubt, check drawing: http://www.megalithic.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=a312&file=index&do=showpic&pid=38380

I think I can just pick out the raised profile of the inverted 'V' mark on the stone's inner face, level with the NW Station Stone on the far side of the path.
