Fantastic Woodcut! I'd never seen this one.
Notice the sixth Trilithon. This tells us that the Artist used Ignio Jones' 17th Century drafts as a reference, which in turn dates the rendering to c.1650.
Very nice contribution - thanks durhamnature!

They do seem to be showing the grading in size of the outer upright stones, smaller at the back, it looks more than just perspective. Is this typical for drawings of this period?
Usually not, Andy. For the most part, back then most of the illustrations were similar to the 'RF' pictures and its copies. Very inaccurate with castles and mountains and so forth. They used a sort of 2-D oblique view favored by draftsmen for many years.
I noticed the graduations too, but it looks intentional rather than perspective. Whoever did this was a big fan of Jones!
