Description Grote Aard - Toterfout
My brother made this pictures, he got bitten by the 'megalith microbe' too when I told him about this website and my searches for barrow cemetries in our area. He joined me when I went to look for the sites near Veldhoven in Holland.
There are some more interesting spots around here so we'll probably send more pictures in the future.

Do the wooden posts have any significance, or are they just a kind of fence to keep people off? I can't see any wire strung between the posts to make it an effective barrier. Perhaps Netherlanders are less likely to trample on their ancient monuments?

Many mounds were encircled by wooden posts, the barrow cemetries we visited were all very well maintained, I think they replace the posts when they're damaged or broken by weather influences. Mentioning the trampling: there's a path ON the three mounds in a row but I walked around it, I don't understand why people would want to walk over them.
