Contact them for permission to reproduce it. | | | Description | Hagadösen is located on the island of Orust on the Swedish west coast. The dolmen is high placed in the landscape and during the stone age it was maybe 10 meters from the bay. The neighbourhood is full of remains from both stone and bronze age. Besides megalithic graves you can see cairns, mounds, rock carvings and grave fields.
Hagadösen was perhaps intended for only one person. The burial chamber consists of four standing stone slabs and a roof slab. Originally the dolmen was enclosed by a mound and the broken circle of small stones that still encircles the grave is the remains of the kerbstones.
When excavated in 1915, amber pearls, a stone axe, a flint dagger and a slate pendant were found. These finds were the remains of a later burial. No traces from the first burial were found. |
