Contact them for permission to reproduce it. | | | Description | West Kennett Avenue - This is my version of "andyb456"'s 'Jaws', viewed from the inside of the avenue. As you can see, he has quite a few holes, and you have to wonder whether they - especially the larger one at wrist level - were significant. I recently asked if anyone has any idea why this particular shape of prominently angled stones (there's one in Callanish's avenue too) were placed where they are. Was there a moon, sun, star alignment for instance, at a particular time of the year? Perhaps someone has made a study of this? I just realised that this stone is set almost at right-angles to the row. So the face I had photographed was not viewed exactly from the inside of the avenue!! This makes it the face towards the Avebury circle end (though nearly at the south end of the avenue) of the rows - so north(-ish) face, taken in the early evening in summer 2001. |
