Contact them for permission to reproduce it. | | | Description | This 24 metre diameter bowl barrow (at grid reference SU33720150) is on the western edge of Beaulieu Heath where it meets the fields of Dilton Farm. The boundary ditch to the left of this photo cuts through the barrow mound, which extends into the field on the left. The fence on the left not only marks the boundary of open Forest and enclosed farmland, but the parish boundary of Brockenhurst and East Boldre. There are other examples in the New Forest where Bronze Age barrows (as one of the few prominent features on the otherwise bare heath) have been re-used in more recent times as boundary markers. |
