That *IS* superb! I love it, and just look at the extent of those earthworks... the lighting makes me think it is on the edge of Mordor, with the glow of Orodruin to the rear... then I have been watching Lord of the Rings a lot!

The name 'Woden Law" is magical...the site even more so ..Hopefully the Romans had an eye for visual beauty on their tramp northward from Chew Green. Excellent photogrpahy.

The name is Saxon although the fort is Iron Age. Woden was their chief god and a "hlaw" was a sacred mound - often a burial mound, sacred hill or moot hill - ie a meeting place.

Very striking. Is it a visible light image, or an artificial colour infra-red image (or something like that)? Its reminiscent of astronomical pictures I've seen (built up from infra-red or microwave data).
