| Posted Comments: cerrig (2010-06-30) | Nice one, the proper date too. Are they orbs? | AngieLake (2010-06-30) | The colours in the stones have come out nicely in this shot. Well captured guile. | guile (2010-06-30) | Hi cerrig, I don't know what the orbs are, might it be something to do with taking pictures of the sun?
Thank you Angie, the light in the chamber gave a wonderful orange ochre hue to the stones. The stone at the end of the passage looked like it had been painted. | Martin L (2010-06-30) | The "orbs" in this picture are a result of flashlight and particles (probably dust from the passage ground) close to the cam. | Martin L (2010-06-30) | If someone is interested in creating impressive orb-pictures like a professional orb-crook :) shake out a dustcloth in front of the cam at night and take some flash images. Create a website and write some supernatural nonsense. Followers guaranteed. | AngieLake (2010-06-30) | Or might it have been early-morning mist droplets?.. though I guess there'd have been more of them. | guile (2010-06-30) | Haha you bad man Martin ;-) Thanks for clearing that up. | Martin L (2010-06-30) | @Angie: Of course you are right, mist droplets will also work ;)
@Guile: You have got me there! I am a guileful evildoer. Cannot abide myself ;-)
Unfortunately the interpretation of passage/entrance orientations of most of the thousands of sites from Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands for example seems to be more difficult. Of course the occurence of some orientations is significantly increased, but in general they vary to much to have a simple explanation like in this case. Probably also other astronomical events had influence on the orientation. Even if focussing only on setting/rise of sun and moon the possibilities are almost endless. Apart from this we also have to face another complication of the matter as the choice of orientation might have had non-astronomical reasons (in some cases). | Runemage (2010-06-30) | But doesn't that add to the mystery... the discrepancies, intrigue and the uncertainty. Isn't that what gives these special places their interest for so many or us who have so many different viewpoints, no simple 'one size fits all' explanation? | Martin L (2010-07-01) | @Runemage: I agree. |
