| Posted Comments: Runemage (2010-02-03) | Have you seen the "Standing with Stones" DVD* Angie? The presenter says he thinks that's not a stone at all, but a fossilised tree, that strange texture is the bark.
*DVD available from the Portal's shop

It certainly looks like that, and the 'chop marks' down its sides look like it had been attacked with an axe. Surely this can be tested easily enough? | Runemage (2010-02-03) | It would be nice to know whether it's stone or fossilised wood. I don't know about testing, it's probably a question of priority for the archaeologists, would proving it one way or another mean enough to cover the costs of the testing.
I've not been to Anglesey, been through it plenty of times but it's on my list for a visit whenever time allows as the sites there are intriguing. | raythemapman (2010-02-03) | Angie I have just bought the DVD ,it is over 2hours long and covers Standing Stones,Stone Circles,Rows,Burial hambers.ect,ect.from Lands End to Orkney.well worth having . |
