SS836343
Counted 30 stones, many under the heather & some lying loose on the ground. It is a large diameter circle making it impossible to photograph as a whole. There are four larger stones at the top end of the circle and four more the same at the bottom end.

| Posted Comments: Elf (2002-12-14) | thanks for the pic; area looks peaceful, why a circle there? | Martin (2003-06-02) | I've been to this site a number of times, but on my last visit (very recently) the heather had been burnt down all over the lower part of the hill. The stone circle is now much more visible and I managed to get some very good pictures of it, however the section of hill above this (going right to the barrow at the top) has not been cleared. | Hazel (2004-05-09) | I'd love to study this circle as my course work for A level archaeology. Your site and pictures are great, do you have any more info on the site before I go and have a look myself. Obviously, any information would be greatfuly recieved and fully acknowledged in my final piece. | vicky (2004-05-09) | Hi Hazel, There's a good write up on the circle in Aubrey Burl's A Guide to the Stone Circles of Britain, Ireland and Britany (Yale, 1995) on pg80. Good luck with the project. Vicky | hazel (2004-06-28) | Cheers vicky, will follow that up! |
