The circle probably dates from the Iron-Age, but was probably in use up to the 2nd century CE. Only 13 of the original stones remain, the other five were robbed away and now some modern-day recumbant stones fill the gaps. In the middle of the circle a pit was used for cremations. Close by, the remains of an ancient cooking place (Fulacht fiadh) - a stone trough that would have been filled with springwater and heated by red hot stones. An interesting site. |
