Looking from this angle emphasises how the three stones on the N side are almost in a straight line.
This circle has some similarities with the equally unusual circle at Glassel:
- both are clearly neither four-posters nor RSC's (the now-recumbent stone at Glassel is shown upright in old photographs)
- both are elliptical (or perhaps rectangular) with the longer axis running E-W (and perhaps parallel to the nearby stream)
- both have three stones on the N side and two stones on the S side
- both sit on level ground close to a steeply-banked stream
Notice also that the trees here are all twisted; hardly any of the trees here have grown with a straight vertical trunk. |
