| Posted Comments: sacredway (2007-04-23) | This is the Breemie Stone circle which lies on Broomhill. Breemie is the ancient Doric word for Broom...the yellow flowering bush that grows in the NE of Scotland and was used for making brooms etc. It was created on Beltaine '04 with ceremonial fires etc by Jason Schroeder and Allan Brownie. Nine of the 11 stones in this 21 metre diamter Recumbent Circle came from one stone that had been dynamited across the valley 50 or so years before as a field clearance and buried. A lot of work to get them across the valley and up the hill even with a JCB....how did our ancestors do it??? Now a site used by many locals in conjunction with the Labyrinth as a sacred place and the home of the Breemie stone circle Mid Summer Festival. |
