| Andy B (2006-08-23) | Don't think so. There are a lot of sites in North America to add, we need to get a team together to work on it as we've had for France and Germany for the last 18 months. | Andy B (2006-08-23) | Not all of our current USA listings have long/lats either. Obviously they can't go on the map unless these are present. | bat400 (2006-08-23) | I've been focusing on sites that I have actually visited recently. There are so many more. If you would like, I can start including "bare bones" information on Ohio Valley sites that I have not yet visited.
I requested correction the long and lat on US sites where I knew them to be in error - fixed thanks to The Captain and others. Some of the New England sites listed lack the location information because they are on private land, unpublicized to avoid problems with looters and vandalism. | Andy B (2006-08-23) | Yes please. Cap'n is a dab hand at tracking down approximate long/lats for sites in France based on map data so he's a good one to give some tips
For sites under threat of vandalism, we could still put a _very_ approximate location, how about randomised by +/- 5 miles :-) I appreciate that you've given promises not to reveal locations in some cases but that would at least get them on the large scale map of North America. | thecaptain (2006-08-24) | For certain locations in New England, and many in other parts of the World, we include positional coordinates to the nearest village. This then gives us a position on our maps and links the sites together, but gives no real information as to where the sites are. This is added as a statement on the site page, like on Gungywamp. | aluta (2006-08-24) | Do you want recently built megalithic sites on this map, too? I have lat & long for one near here. | aluta (2006-08-24) | And to whom do we send the information? | Andy B (2006-08-24) | Yes, they go under 'Modern Stone Circles'. Use the 'Add a Site' form which is a link in our main left hand menu on most pages (apart from gallery pages) | bat400 (2006-08-24) | Okay. I'll get some "bare bones" entries up this weekend. Later, when photos are available, and someone has actually visited, we can revise the location if necessary. |
